212: It's Just Around the Corner

I love when people ask me for directions.

Oh Great question! The bakery is just around the corner!

I love when people say - How do you get to Broadway?,

Or Where is the 2 train?

So often we just ignore each other.

So often we slide by like eels,

untouched, unphased.

But every once in a while

a brave soul will ask for help;

and when they do

we are both allowed

to break through

the imaginary wall.

When they do

we are both allowed

to drop the myth

that we all have the answers.

When they do

we are both allowed

we have eye contact

and I can say-

Yes yes, you’re almost there

and it always tastes like hope.
